LED LAMPS

An LED lamp is an electric light that produces light using Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). LED lamps are significantly more energy efficient than equivalent Incandescent, Halogen and Fluorescent lamps. The most efficient commercially available LED lamps have efficiencies exceeding 200 lumens per watt (lm/W) and convert more than half the input power into light. Commercial LED lamps have a lifespan several times longer than both incandescent and fluorescent lamps.

LEDs come to full brightness immediately with no warm-up delay. Frequent switching on and off does not reduce life expectancy as with Fluorescent lighting.

LED lamps do not just go out as with previous technologies, overtime the light output diminishes. LED lamp life is calculated at L70 which is the output at 700 lumens.

If a lamp is 30,000 Hrs from Mico at that time is will only be 70% of its initial output. This allows for far better maintenance planning.

LED lamps require an electronic LED Circuit to operate from mains power. The driver circuit may require some reprogramming to be compatible with lamp dimmers intended for use on incandescent lamps.

It is important to check that the dimmer in place can acknowledge the far lower load. There are many ways to solve loading issues on older dimmers and your installer should be able to offer the best solution.

If you are installer free, then please contact our sales office who will be happy to advise.
